Green Economy

SDÉ is committed to sustainable development and to the green economy today and for future generations. As a member of theÉco-Quest program, we are committed to building a stronger green sector in BC.

The Green Schools Program of the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (BC Francophone Education Authority, or CSF) is an initiative with which the Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique (SDÉ) is proud to be associated.

This program is designed to provide students with an awareness of environmental culture, and present and future ecological challenges. For the first time, the CSF is developing a comprehensive environmental excellence program for its schools, in collaboration with its partners. The framework of this program will be comprised of two main components: agroecology pilot projects, and environmental excellence activities within its schools.

SDÉ is working in partnership with Albor Pacific to develop and administer the program.

Additional information will be available in the summer of 2016.

SDÉ has been collaborating with the Éco-Quest program since 2014. During the last year, the City of Coquitlam, SDÉ and Eco-West established a working partnership to develop a wide-ranging strategy to reduce GHG emissions in the area. The plan will result in engaging a host of local stakeholders, from industrial and business concerns right down to a grass roots level of community organizations and individual residents.
